Steven J. Ryan concentrates his practice in the area of matrimonial law, representing individuals in complex matrimonial matters including property, support, custody, paternity, antenuptial agreements and other equity matters.

A graduate of Syracuse University College of Law (J.D. 1985), Mr. Ryan was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1985, and was subsequently admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Prior to joining Witmer, Karp, Warner & Ryan LLP in January 2006, Mr. Ryan was a member of the Boston law firm of Esdaile, Barrett & Esdaile.

Mr. Ryan has served as section counsel for the Legislative Committee of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) and is a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Ryan has been included in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 editions of Naifeh & Smith’s The Best Lawyers in America in the field of family law and has received recognition as one of the top lawyers in Massachusetts in Boston Magazine’s Law & Politics, Massachusetts Super Lawyers Edition every year since the inception of the award in 2004.

Mr. Ryan has published numerous articles in the area of matrimonial law and is a frequent lecturer for the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, MCLE and Boston area law schools.
